Anastasia Samoylova (born in Moscow; lives in Miami) moves between observational photography, studio practice and installation. She will present a solo exhibition of her ongoing project FloodZone at USF Contemporary Art Museum, Tampa in January 2020. With over 80 photographs, the book of the project will be published by Steidl in September 2019.

Forthcoming exhibitions of FloodZone include Flowers Gallery London, Dot Fiftyone Gallery Miami, New Orleans Photo Alliance, and Salisbury University among others. In 2018 Samoylova was awarded a number of grants for FloodZone, including the South Arts Fellowship and Michael P. Smith Fund for Documentary Photography. Her earlier body of work, Landscape Sublime, explores how social-media images and the repetition of certain motifs informed an understanding of natural phenomena. In the recent years the project has been frequently commissioned as large-scale public art installations as well as shown in a number of solo and group exhibitions. In 2020 Landscape Sublime will be presented at the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum, Germany; as part of the Biennale für aktuelle Fotografie. Recent exhibitions include Museum of Contemporary Photography Chicago, Purdue University, Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Griffin Museum of Photography, Foley Gallery New York, Aperture Foundation New York, Darkroom Detroit, Currents New Media Santa Fe, Julie Saul Gallery New York, as well as numerous festivals in Brazil, Belgium, France, Israel, Netherlands, China, and South Korea. Her work is in the collections at the Perez Art Museum Miami, Museum of Contemporary Photography Chicago, and ArtSlant Collection in Paris. She has completed a number of artist residencies including Mass MoCA, Prairie Center for the Arts, Latitude Chicago and ArtCenter South Florida.
